Fall Tree "Leaf Globe"

By Tammy Gnagy November 8, 2015
What’s better than watching the leaves fall this season? Especially leaves you don't have to rake! Recreate the “falling leaves” indoors with this project inspired by snow globes.

What you need:
  • Empty jar with lid (We used a mason jar.)
  • Fall leaves (We bought some foil ones at the craft store.)
  • A small tree branch
  • Water
  • A hot glue gun
  • Glycerin (This isn’t necessary, but when added to the water, it makes the leaves fall slowly. We found ours at the craft store by the soap making supplies.)
What to do:
  1. Trim your tree branch to fit inside the jar.
  2. Hot glue the branch to the inside of the lid. If you would like to glue a few of the leaves to your tree branch, we recommend a stronger, water-resistant glue. Otherwise the leaves may fall off when they are immersed in the water.
  3. Add some water and about 1/4 cup of glycerin to the jar. Add some leaves and carefully fit the tree branch onto the jar and screwed on the lid.
  4. Turn the jar upside down, adjust the water level and add more glycerin if need. You can also glue on the lid if you like. Then, shake and enjoy the falling leaves!
