10 Things to Do this February in Worcester

2023

By Noelle Monaghan - Worcester Macaroni KID Publisher January 20, 2023

10 things for your family to celebrate in February in Greater Worcester.  February may be the shortest month of the year, but you can still have fun! Here are some suggestions to get you going:

  1. Buy some winter season flowers!  Some in season flowers are: stargazer lilies, calla lilies, delphiniums, gerberas, irises, magnolias, roses
  2. February 9 is National Pizza Day, so take full advantage of that and order your favorite or make a heart shaped pizza at home with the kids (we found some pre-made heart shaped pizzas for sale at Aldi). Or try a Cat in the Hat shaped pizza.  We love fresh mozzarella on ours. Don't forget to visit a local pizza place.
  3. Celebrate Valentine's Day by reading a book, making heart crafts, or handing out sweet treats to friends. Here are a few family-friendly Worcester area events.
  4. Plan a vacation. We love planning a summer trip to somewhere warm!  Start thinking of someplace else you'd like to go either for a vacation or just a day trip this summer. Save 25% on Your Smugglers' Notch Resort visit if you book a reservation by March 15, 2023!
  5. To honor and remember Black History Month, drive or walk by the memorial at the corner of Lincoln and Belmont to view the City of Worcester Citizens of Color WWII Honor Roll. You can also learn about Major Taylor and his Worcester connection. He was also known as “the Worcester Whirlwind” and was the second African-American world champion in any sport.

  6. Learn about Groundhog Day.  Did you know that Massachusetts has a State Groundhog named Ms. G? She is a female groundhog who resides at Mass Audubon Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary in Lincoln, MA.
  7. Visit the Worcester Art Museum on February 5th.  It's free!
  8. Try snowshoeing with your family in Worcester! Did you know that you can rent snowshoes in all sizes from child to adult at Broad Meadow Brook Worcester? Members, $3/hour • Nonmembers, $5/hour. Snowshoes can be used anytime there is at least 6" of snow on the ground.
  9. Learn about the Presidents. With Presidents' Day on February 20th, this month is a good time to learn some new and interesting facts about the forefathers of our country.
  10. Buy a new toothbrush and floss. February is National Children's Dental Health Month, and what better way to "celebrate" than with a nice new toothbrush to clean those pearly whites. Here is a healthy teeth craft you can do with your children at home.
