Macaroni Kid Worcester Review-Roald Dahl’s Charlie & Chocolate Factory

By Noelle Monaghan - Worcester Macaroni Kid Publisher March 3, 2020

Family night at The Hanover Theatre is worth every penny!  We had the opportunity to see Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on March 3rd and loved it! Be sure to purchase your golden tickets ASAP as the show is in Worcester until Sunday, March 8th!

The question and answer session prior to the show was light hearted and fun, and we learned that Actor Sam St. Jean who plays Augustus Gloop likes to clear his mind before shows with music.  His advice to younger children interested in pursuing an acting career is to train and network in the industry.  His favorite song is "Pure Imagination" and we agree with him.

The audience was thrilled that Table Talk Pies (Worcester) offered mini Snozzberry pies after the show to everyone.  Snozzberry pies!  You really can't beat that.  Be sure to bring a crayon or pencil because the children's program is filled with fun facts about the show and even includes intermission activities to keep the kids busy.  They even ask children to create and describe their own brand new candy invention.  My daughter will be bringing her program to school with her tomorrow and sharing her experience with her class.

From the Oompa Loompas to Mr. Wonka and Charlie, we were so impressed with the the entire production.  Mrs. Gloop was also a huge hit with my children, and if you didn't listen to our phone interview with her last week, check it out HERE.  We were so lucky to be able to meet her in person after the show!

The incredibly imaginative, bright and beautiful scenes on stage were an excellent touch and helped to make you feel like you were actually a part of the show.  Children and even their parents all around us were wide eyed and giggling.  Such joy!  We had a fantastic experience!  There is a snack and beverage station (for purchase) in the lobby as well.

About the show:

Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tells the story of Willy Wonka, world famous candy creator. Charlie Bucket and four others are the winners of golden tickets, granting them access to Wonka’s marvelous and mysterious factory. The five of them embark on a mesmerizing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination, filled with life lessons, tantalizing sweets and incredible inventions.
