It seems everyone in Worcester is looking for ways to get out of the house this winter! Fresh air is good for the soul — not to mention it helps to get the wiggles out of the kids.
So here is a list of six fun things to do this winter with kids in Worcester (or just a short drive away!) during these next few winter months:
1. Go Snowshoeing at Broad Meadow Brook Worcester
Broad Meadow Brook makes it easy and inexpensive to go snowshoeing. They rent snowshoes in all sizes from child to adult. Snowshoes can be used anytime there is at least 6" of snow on the ground. Come explore over 5 miles of sanctuary trails and enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the winter woods! Available Tuesday–Saturday from 9-3:30 pm and Sunday from 12:00-3:30 pm. Snowshoes must be returned to the front desk by 3:30 pm. 2. Go tubing at Ski Ward
Snowtubing at Ski Ward in Shrewsbury is the perfect activity for all levels and with up to with up to 12 lanes, 2 lifts and over 200 tubes, you’re guaranteed to have a great time! We provide everything for you, too including the snow tubes and the fun! All participants must be at least 6 years old and 42" in height to tube. $19-36 for a one to two-hour snow tubing pass. 3. Go sledding at Green Hill Park

4. Take a Self-Guided Tour at Worcester Historical Museum
We hope you will enjoy this revolutionary tour of Worcester, created by WHM! Imagine yourself back in time, in a Worcester where information traveled at the speed of horses or foot. News from beyond came from travelers who patronized the handful of taverns in town, from letters that sometimes took weeks to arrive, from newspapers. Yet local citizenry kept themselves informed and took up the Patriot cause with fervor and deep conviction. 6. Visit the Worcester Common Oval
The City's 12,000-square-foot rink, which opened in 2012, is 4,000 square feet larger than the rink at New York City's Rockefeller Center. The Oval Ice Skating Rink, powered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, has piped-in music, skate rentals, concessions, holiday lights and more, making it a fun and affordable family-friendly activity. The rink is professionally managed by ASM Global, the DCU Center's talented management team. $6 per person, Children 5 and Under Skate Free.
