Review: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical in Boston

By Noelle Monaghan - Publisher North Worcester Macaroni Kid December 16, 2017

How do you describe the way a person feels watching their favorite childhood Christmas show come to life? A touch of Christmas magic! We attended the media night for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical at the Boch Center Shubert Theatre and thoroughly enjoyed its charismatic approach to the holiday classic. We sat in the second row and had a fantastic view of the performers and felt up close and personal with the experience. The scenes were in exact order of the television classic and the characters even had the same voices, especially Rudolph! The Shubert Theatre was just the right size for this larger than life performance. All of the usual Christmas songs were in the show, with a twist at the end of the performance. They involved the audience for “A Holly Jolly Christmas” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” songs with a display of the words above the stage. How engaging and appropriate for the families in attendance!

If your children are interested in watching an original television classic come to life, they're going to love this show. The performers were spot on and endearing. Be sure to get there early. They offer candy, bottled drinks, adult beverages and a mini gift shop with show themed merchandise.
No flash photography or video was allowed during the show.

The show is a little less than two hours, including intermission. Parking price varies depending on which parking garage you get a spot in. We pre-paid $15 for parking at the 200 Stuart garage using the ParkWhiz app. It made the entire parking experience easier and the walk to the theatre was doable. Make sure to get there early to allot for traffic. This show is something my children will remember for years to come!
