Macaroni Kid Worcester Review - ELF The Musical

By Noelle Monaghan - Worcester Macaroni Kid Publisher December 1, 2018

"Santa!  I know him!"  Looking for a fantastic way to spend your weekend in the Woo?  ELF the Musical on Tour at The Hanover Theatre is a must-see!  Tickets are still available this weekend!

Buddy, the main character, is hysterical and endearing!  My family really needed a little more holiday cheer, and ELF the Musical on Tour gave it to us.

We parked in the garage across the street and were delighted to have the local Worcester Police crosswalk assistance and loved the ambiance with the lighted trees in Federal Square.  Upon entering the building, we were greeted with check-in employees dressed as Santa's little helpers.  How wonderful to be greeted by such a unique costume arrangement!  The lobby was bustling with families, all either taking pictures at the multiple Christmas trees in the lobby, or purchasing ELF the Musical on Tour themed merchandise, and even buying gigantic cookies and whoopie pies from Eric La Patisserie.  We were then given adult as well as children programs chock full of activities and were escorted to our seats.  We loved the location and there doesn't seem to be a disappointing seat in the entire theater.

During the first scene, my family and I knew we were in for a wonderful holiday experience!  From the songs, to the stage props, to the music, we were enthralled.  I enjoyed the beginning of the performance when Santa is watching TV and joking about TiVo and Holy Cross football.  When the elves arrived on scene, they sang funny songs about Buddy the ELF.  If he was any sweeter, he'd make them diabetic.  Their jazz hands were hilarious.  We thought the cocoa cart was a nice touch as well.  There were some minor scene changes from the movie, and more local references.  Santa mentioned opening a restaurant in Shrewsbury!  He also used an iPad to check his naughty or nice list.  My 7 year old daughter summed it up wonderfully after the performance was over.  "I don't want it to end!  Whenever we need Christmas cheer, when ELF is on stage, we go here!"

The entire performance is 2 hours and 20 minutes.  It is such a fun experience!  ELF the Musical on Tour is performing on 12/01 at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM and on 12/02 at 1:00 PM and 6:30 PM.  I can guarantee that my family will remember this show for years to come, and I hope that you take the time to attend while it is in Worcester!
