MacaroniKid Worcester Review-The Lightning Thief:Percy Jackson Musical

By Noelle Monaghan - Worcester Macaroni Kid Publisher February 1, 2019

How do you stop the Greek God's from fighting over Lightning?  Come watch The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical show this weekend in Worcester to find out!   The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical at The Hanover Theatre is a must-see!  Tickets are still available this weekend!

Percy Jackson, the main character, is on quite an adventure in the mythological world.

During the first scene, Percy realizes that he has been expelled from school due to new powers that he can't control.  The show takes you through the process of Percy, discovering what to do with his powers of being a half human and half Greek God, and his challenges along the way with several Greek Gods.  There are lessons to learn throughout the musical.  One song that resonated with my family, is the one that says that the things that make you different are the things that make you strong.  The cast is spectacular and they make you feel as though you are truly transported into another world.  When Percy wins a surprise battle with a monster on the beach and ends up at Camp Half-Blood, the intriguing world of mythology really shines through.  All of the kids at camp are half human, half Greek God.  The audience laughed during the funny toilet paper scene where the actors shot toilet paper towards the audience with leaf blowers to mimic strong ocean waves from Percy's father, Poseidon.

After taking a cross country journey with his new half-blood friends, Percy is faced with a decision to make.  Spend his life in eternal half-blood summer camp, or go back home with his beloved human Mother during the school year.  He sings about his confusion.  He sings about how he came back changed, but everything has still stayed the same.  He is worried about facing the real world monsters and realizes that his parents can't solve all his real world problems.  What does he decide to do?  Go see the show this weekend to find out!
