CORTEO is a Cirque du Soleil show that is here in Worcester at the DCU Center this weekend only. The concept and disposition of the stage bring the audience in a theatrical atmosphere like never seen before in Cirque du Soleil arena shows. CORTEO, which means cortege in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.
The main character is a clown. He realizes that he has passed away and is taken on a journey to view his life from childhood through the present. It is fascinating and beautiful. The music is live and the acts are top notch. Worcester Macaroni Kid had the pleasure of interviewing CORTEO staff and performers prior to the opening night. You can read about our interview here. There are many scenes with great acrobatic skill. The teeter board scene and the Hoosier, along with the juggling acts were thrilling! The stage is simple, yet so powerful.
The show CORTEO, is about reflecting on one's life to see what one might have missed.
CORTEO delivered a fantastic show! My children loved it as well! My 12 year old son's favorite act during the show, was the Hoosier rings because he couldn't understand how the performers weren't getting dizzy, yet remained so balanced. My 7 year old daughter's favorite part of the show was listening to the beautiful, live music throughout. She loved the flying woman with the balloons as well (she floats into the audience and asks for assistance!).
If your children are interested in watching unique and daring acrobatics, they're going to love this show. The performers are highly skilled and totally on point.

The show is one hour and 41 minutes. There is a 20-minute intermission and it is just enough time to get up and stretch your legs and purchase items in the gift shop or a snack. Parking price varies depending on which parking garage you get a spot in. Make sure to get there early to allot for traffic. This show is incredible and totally worth it!
